This episode is what a season finale definitely should be.
Alex O’Loughlin & Jean Smart really were outstanding towards the end of the episode.
In my opinion if any show deserved an Emmy it would be Hawaii Five-0 simply for this episode alone for not only the brilliant writing and the way it was shot but for the dramatic performances of both lead actor Alex O’Loughlin and guest star Jean Smart.
When Peter Lenkov said that Five-0 would be fractured he was certainly not kidding by any stretch of the imagination he should know since he was the one who wrote this amazing episode.
I lost count at how many OMG moments there were during this episode. This episode was masterpiece. With an explosion, 3 deaths, lots of action and storylines within storylines that ties it all together and a season ending chiffchanger to end all cliffhangers you will not be disappointed at all.
In a related note Executive Producer Peter Lenkov did confirm to fans in a couple of tweets last night May 31 that Monday June 6 the writers would be back in the writers room working on the new season and that Season Two would begin filming the second week in July.
If you haven’t seen the episode and do not want to be spoiled I suggest you stop and go no further.
The episode itself starts out with Danny(Scott Caan) & his ex-wife Rachel(Claire van der Boom) in his apartment with Danny in bed and Elvis Presley on the television in the movie Blue Hawaii and Rachel telling Danny that Stan is coming home and they have to tell him.

The scene then shifts to Chin & Steve McGarrett(Alex O’Loughlin) discussing the burnt money. McGarrett tells Chin that he & Kono(Grace Park) watched the money burn and that even if they run the serial numbers it can’t be traced back to them because someone replaced the money that they took from the Asset Forfeiture Locker to save Chin back in Episode 12 ”Hanaaa Makehewa” . McGarrett along with the rest of the Five-0 task force are given the case and they piece together the type of bomb that was used. Kaye tells the team that she has seen this type of bombing before and that Wo-Fat(Mark Dacascos) is behind it. The team tries to figure out why Laura was targeted so McGarrett & Danny head to Laura Hills’ home where they discover the house has been ransacked but nothing is missing. McGarrett discovers manilla envelopes similar to the ones he has been receiving so he gets a writing sample from Laura Hills’ appointment book later McGarrett & Kono visit Charlie Fong who confirms that it was indeed Laura Hills’s writing on the envelopes that he had been receiving. Kaye calls McGarrett with news that the bomb was part of a military shipment that was headed to Iraq but was stolen & she gives him the name of the person by the name of
The scene shifts to McGarrett & Danny at the governor’s mansion in the office where they tell her that Wo-Fat is responsible for Laura’s murder and that they have a man in custody willing to testify that Wo-Fat is the one who bought the bomb.
Danny questions the governor. McGarrett gets a call from HPD telling him that the transport taking O’Reilly to jail had been hit, McGarrett and Danny arrive at the scene to discover their suspect and two cops dead. McGarrett tells Danny that the only other person outside of Five-0 who knew about the suspect was the governor, he tells Danny that if she is responsible for this hit she’s going down. Danny gets a call from Rachel asking him to meet her, she has something needs to talk to him about.
Later that night McGarrett dressed all in black waits in his truck outside the governors mansion for everyone to leave, once they do he is able to pick the lock, and disable the alarm code. Steve tells him the key fit and shows him the photos of Laura Hills putting the envelopes on his truck. The next morning at HQ they fill the rest of the team in and McGarrett tells them their focus is now the governor but they have to investigate her silently like his father did.
Chin gets a call from a friend at HPD telling him that McGarrett is about to be arrested for murder. Chin warns McGarrett that HPD is on the way McGarrett tells his team to wipe everything. Steve leaves but is caught and does eventually get away where he heads to Kamakona’s(Taylor Wily) where he is able to load up on weapons.
Back at HQ HPD is going through the task force offices and Chin leaves saying he’s going to do something. Internal Affairs arrive they want to talk to Kono about another matter which happens to be the money from the assett forfeiture locker. Meanwhile McGarrett battles his way into the governors office where he confronts her. He takes out his cellphone hits record and tosses it on her desk and tells her to talk. McGarrett tells her that he knows that his father was investigating her, that is why his mother was murdered and why his father was killed because his father got to close, and that she created Five-0 to keep and eye on him so that he wouldn’t pick up where his father left off. He asks her who gave the order was it her or was it Wo-Fat.
She tells McGarrett that he doesn’t want the truth. That he got the man responsible for his mothers murder & he captured the man responsible for killing his father and that she gave him the ability and the means to do that and whenever he and his team got into trouble she protected him.
Steve tells her that it was her who replaced the money in the assett forfeiture locker, that she covered for them. She tells Steve that Five-0 has done a lot for the people of Hawaii and she wanted it to continue. She also says that she is loyal to the people who are loyal to her. Steve then asks is that why she had Laura killed because she was disloyal ? The governor answers yes just as Wo-Fat comes into the office wearing gloves, he uses a stun-gun on McGarrett as the governor tries to delete the recording off of McGarrett’s phone (was she successful in doing that is unknown) Wo-Fat tells her he has everything under control and uses McGarrett’s gun to shoot the governor killing her. Wo-Fat plants the gun in McGarrett’s hands then walks out the door.
HPD arrives and Chin is in charge he arrests McGarrett for the governor’s murder. Danny arrives just Chin is putting McGarrett in the back of the squad car. McGarrett tells Danny that he didn’t do it that it was Wo-Fat. Danny tells him they have jursdiction with Five-0 and to let him go Chin tells him there is no Five-0 anymore. Danny then asks what did Chin do, go back to them after everything they did to him. He tells Steve to hang on and that he will get him out of this.
